What is Photo Contemporary?

Photo Contemporary is the sister-fair to Photo Independent. It is an art fair with the mission to present only the most current, bold, and significant photography from galleries across the globe. The annual showcase sets itself apart from other popular art fairs with its vast roster of contemporary artists and its intentional exclusion of the classic, vintage photography that follows an academic and traditional style seen regularly at fairs by our audiences. Photo Contemporary is a fair where exhibiting galleries are focusing on bold emerging and seasoned artists who are breaking the rules and challenging our definitions of the medium.

Photo Contemporary is an annual fair providing galleries with the opportunity to present their collections to global decision makers — curators, collectors, editors and publishers — who seek to acquire, publish and commission the best works from today’s ground breaking photographers.

Why is Photo Contemporary in Hollywood?

As the second largest photography community in the United States, Los Angeles and Hollywood provide a diverse community of photography professionals and patrons who can open doors of opportunity to our exhibitors. We find Los Angeles to be a valuable place for both galleries and art patrons seeking inspiration and exposure.

How is Photo Contemporary different than other art fairs?

The annual showcase sets itself apart from other photography art fairs with its vast roster of contemporary artists and its intentional exclusion of the classic, vintage photography that follows an academic and traditional style seen regularly at fairs by our audiences.
